Trip @ end of Jan. to W. Lodge...keeping a secret from kids. Plan to surpirse them for Christmas, have any of you done this? Any tips/ideas? I was thinking some kind of scavenger hunt around the house for clues. My kids are 8, 5 and an infant. Thanks!

    Hi Kimberly!

SO EXCITING!  I can barely stand it!!  Yaay for you for keeping that huge secret!  There's NO way I could do it--not in a million years!

I love, love, LOVE the idea of a scavenger hunt, and your older kids are a great age to do one.  You didn't mention if they were boys or not, but you could theme your scavenger hunt for pirates, princesses, or both!

I would make a map.  Hide things around the house for them to find and put the clues together.  You could even make a puzzle piece for each 'clue' they find, and at the end they would put the puzzle together and read, "We're going to Disney World!" or something of the like.  If you do hide things for them to find, make it things that they can take with them...snack for the drive/flight, a new stuffed animal, a new character shirt...and then a cool suitcase or carry on bag.

Make sure you keep the video camera running, and have a blast!

    Have a magical vacation!
