Our trip to Disney is at the end of May into June. We want to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. With the construction schedule, which side should we lean towards to get the best animal views but not let construction ruin our experience?

Hello, Laura! Welcome to planDisney! I'm glad you asked this question! When I'm not at Walt Disney World Resort, my favorite thing to do is plan my next visit or help another guest plan theirs. I love that you are thinking about the specifics of your room location, and I'm happy to help!

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Where do I begin? To say that I am obsessed with this resort would be an understatement. I enjoy taking in all the fascinating details of the gorgeous lobby and talking with Cast Members. I always try to make at least one stop at Victoria Falls Lounge, which has specialty cocktails that are unique to this resort, as well as African beers and wines. Boma Flavors of Africa has my heart, though. There's a reason they call it the "Boma Coma," because I am not doing anything for the rest of the day after a meal there! Boma has an African market theme and features a buffet that even picky eaters love. Of course, the real stars of the show at this resort are the many animals throughout the lush savannas. It seems unreal to get the opportunity to watch giraffes, zebras, gazelles, ostriches, cranes, and more, with knowledgeable Cast Members to tell you all about them! I know I'm gushing, but I haven't even gotten to Sanaa (order the Indian-style Bread Service!) or Jiko - The Cooking Place or the pools!

Let's get to your question, though. I just spoke with Nancy, a Guest Services Cast Member. Unfortunately, they do not have detailed information about the construction plans. She did say that work on the rooms at Kidani Village should be wrapping up by the time of your visit, and construction on Jambo House is scheduled to begin. As you know, these types of things are always subject to change. She also said that it is expected to be mainly refurbishment of guest rooms and that most amenities would remain available. You may see or hear construction in the area, and there may occasionally be alternate paths of travel. Work typically begins around 9 am and concludes by dusk. Nancy assured me that if you book a Savanna View, your view would not be obstructed, but she was uncertain if there would be any visible construction from any particular rooms. With four distinct savannas, there are plenty of options. Once you are within a few weeks of your trip, you could give them a call to see if any more up-to-date information is available and ask them to inform the room assigner of your preferences.

Laura, I'm only a little jealous of your upcoming stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge (Okay, maybe a lot jealous), but I am also very excited for you! I know that you are going to make the most magical memories! If you have any more planning questions, don't hesitate to ask us here at planDisney!
