Our 1st trip Dec 16-24. Have a five day pass with no hopper. We are planning on hitting MK twice, HS & Epcot once now trying to decide if we should spend another day at HS or use our fifth day at AK. Traveling with DH, DD14 & DS11. Thanks for you

    Hi Leslie,

The holidays are a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World.  The parks and resorts are decorated in a magnificent display that is sure to impress your entire family!  I have a Christmas Eve birthday, and am a full-fledged holiday "nut."  I can't think of a better place to visit at this magical time of year!

Your itinerary sounds great for a first trip, however, I would recommend not hitting the Magic Kingdom two days in a row, in case your family decides that Epcot (which is the resort's largest park) is worthy of a repeat visit in lieu of a second day at the Magic Kingdom.  In addition,  I would absolutely recommend spending a day exploring Animal Kingdom.  Your kids are old enough to enjoy some of the more thrilling attractions, including, my favorite, Expedition Everest!  This high-speed coaster will bring your family on a close encounter with the mountain's infamous resident:  the Yeti.  They will probably also enjoy Kali River Rapids and Primeval Whirl.  A trip to the park isn't complete, in my opinion, without experiencing Kilimanjaro Safari, where you can see African wildlife up close as you ride through a savannah in an open-sided safari vehicle.  I recommend visiting this attraction as early in the day as possible, as the animals on the savanna like to "siesta" in the afternoon, and are easier to spot in the morning.

Have a wonderful, first Disney vacation!
