Our trip is 10/8/09 and is considered a grand gathering. What special grand gathering events are available at this time? We have kids ranging from 2 to 12 - what would be recommended?

    Rebecca:

I've been with two Grand Gatherings to Disney, and am planning another one!  There's nothing like experiencing Disney with family and friends!  Currently, if everyone in the party is on the Dining Plan, there are three Gatherings available:

    • International Dinner & Illuminations Dessert Reception in Epcot: held in the old Odyssey building between Future World and World Showcase.  The night includes dinner, but the spectacular finale of the dessert reception overlooking the lake is what makes this memorable!  (Those locations vary.  I've enjoyed the reception near Norway, Morocco, and Great Britain: all the views were spectacular!)
    • Safari Celebration Dinner at Animal Kingdom: Your dine from favorites similar to items at Boma.  Then, you'll join other Grand Gatherings for a private safari.  (HINT: I really wanted to do this last Spring, but it books up FAST.)
    • Good Morning Character Breakfast in the Magic Kingdom.  You enjoy breakfast in the park at Tony's Toontown Restaurant (along with other Grand Gathering guests).  The best part is that you're in the parks before the crowds!  Great for pictures!

For both of my Grand Gatherings, I used the expertise of my Magical Gathering specialist to help create our own special events: landing a large reservation for our group of 19 at Biergarten and an evening at Hoop dee Doo.  We considered, but didn't book, the fireworks cruise.  They were immensely helpful in laying out all of our options.  I would recommend giving them a call to find what your group qualifies for, and allowing your specialist to navigate reservations and making it happen.  Give them a call at: (407) 934-7639.  (And have your Grand Gathering number ready!)

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
