I have a trip coming up next month with 3 adults, 1 teen, and 1 toddler. Our reservation and lightning lanes are all together, but will we be able to split up and manage our lightning lane rides when we’re not together?

Hiya, Sarah. Welcome back to planDisney! Keep those questions coming, because we love answering them.

While one person typically makes the initial Lightning Lane reservations, that doesn’t mean they have to be the only one managing plans. Any Guest over the age of 13 can have their own MyDisney account and use the My Disney Experience mobile app to manage plans. Just make sure that each person has a valid theme park ticket and is connected to the others through the My Family & Friends List. Then, make sure everyone you want to be able to manage plans has toggled on the option to view and modify all plans next to their name on this list. Once that’s done, all eligible Guests in your party can change and make Lightning Lane reservations.

On the day of your visit, for each Lightning Lane Multi Pass you redeem, you can make another (subject to availability). When a member of your planning party selects an attraction they want to reserve, they will be shown anyone connected to them who is eligible to make that reservation. They can choose everyone or select just a few if they want to split up! So maybe the teenager wants to go off with one of the adults to travel down the bayou on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, while the other two adults take the toddler to dance along with Ariel on Under the Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid. That’s perfectly okay!

In fact, you can do this even before you get to the park. While you usually must select your initial Lightning Lane Multi Pass experiences together in advance of your visit, you can go in and modify those selections for just a few Guests beforehand if you’d like. So, if you all picked Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure initially, but two people want to go on Test Track instead, you can modify the Lightning Lane for just those two members of your party (if the experience is available). To do so, click on the “Lightning Lane Passes” tile on the main menu of the mobile app, select “My Lightning Lane Passes,” click the experience you want to change, and then select “Modify Plan.” While the system often defaults to selecting everyone in the group, you can scroll down to find “Your Party” at the bottom, make sure you only select the Guests you want included in the change, and then follow the prompts.

Sarah, as you can see, there’s a lot of flexibility when it comes to Lightning Lanes. It's one of the things I like best about the platform. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    See ya real soon,
    Matt
