Hello there, Cheri. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.
I stay at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground each year for Christmas, Cheri. It's honestly so much fun there, you are going to love it. But you are right, you will need to rent a golf cart to get around. It's a pretty big place.
Right now, to
rent a golf cart, the only option that you have is to call. I did just call to reserve my golf cart a few days ago and waited on hold for less than 30 minutes. The phone lines for the recreational activities and extras don't seem to be as backed up as the main phone line. If you haven't, try calling 407-WDW-PLAY and that will connect you with the correct Cast Member to book your golf cart with. I called mid-morning and like I said, barely waited more than 10-15 minutes. Phone lines open up around 7:00 a.m. Mickey Mouse's time and the closer you can call to that, the less waiting on hold you'll end up doing.
There are so many fun things to see and do at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, I hope you'll schedule some time in your itinerary to enjoy it all. If you are looking for a good meal while you stay there, my family and I love
P & J's Southern Takeout that's down in the Settlement area. It's a to-go restaurant but there's plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your food at your you can take it back to your campsite or cabin. We like to order the BBQ Rib and Fried Chicken meal. It comes with a full slab of finger-lickin' good BBQ ribs, 8 pieces of golden fried chicken, a loaf of cornbread and 4 sides (choices included mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw and french fries). This meal feeds 4-6 people and I've fed 5 comfortably with food leftover. The best part is this whole dinner rings up under $45.00 - it's incredible. It's a great meal for a great value.
I hope you are able to make your golf cart reservation with as little wait time as possible. If you have any other questions, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm here to help.
Have fun and enjoy!
