Trip booked for 6/6-6/12. Driving down. If we get there the day before can we get a room at Pop or will we need to go off site? Not sure of timing so don't want to change reservations. As always really enjoy and appreciate the panels help and insight.

Hi Eleanor!  We have taken the drive down 95 (from CT) many times.  And with the excitement building as you get closer, you just can't wait to start your vacation!  What we normally do, is wait until we get to the FL border.  At that time we decide if we want to continue or finish the drive in the morning.  If the decision is to continue (and it usually is!), we call Disney reservations at (407) 939-7675 from our cell and check on availability.  We haven't had a problem yet.

I can remember the first time we did this, we were planning on stopping in Daytona for the night.  As we got closer to Daytona, we realized the kids were sleeping and we decided to keep driving.  I called Disney to see if we could add a night to our Contemporary reservation and they said it wouldn't be a problem.  As we neared the Contemporary (around midnight!), I popped in a Disney CD which soon woke the kids up.  It was so magical for them to wake up with the view of the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom.  So depending on your circumstances and if you are traveling with children, you may want to try and sneak in a surprise as well.

    Have a wonderful vacation!  Diane
