Hello! I have a trip booked for 3 from Dec 1st - 8th. It includes 4 days park tickets and the DDP. Now one person may not be able to arrive until the 4th. Could that person just join late, or do they have to be there at check in?

Hey, hey Chelsea and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Looks like you are planning a great trip filled with adventure, magic and lots of Disney food. The entrees and specialty treats located around the "World" are some of my most favorite. Of course, I have to have caramel Popcorn from Karamel Küche in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot and a churro available from the snack cart in Fantasyland Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom Park. You may use a snack credit from your Disney Dining Plan for both. Yum!

Number 3 may join you later and will need to stop by the front desk when they arrive but let us look at some options because you have purchased a Dining Plan. Remember Disney vacations are "Magic Your Way" so we will wave a wand and get down to business.

If Number 3 is included in the original Disney Resort Hotel Package then they will need the same dining plan as everyone else for the seven-day trip even though they will miss three days. Dining plan credits are an "aggregate." If there are three of you, then you will get three credits each day for snacks and meals (depending on the dining plan) to use however you like. The credits go into a "bucket" and they get deducted at each meal/snack. So, Number 3 can "catch up" by eating more meals once they get there as they can be used at any time or others may use those credits. No credits would be lost.

Check this nifty idea out to potentially save some money. When you check-in on December 1, 2019, you can add Number 3 to your room instead of adding to your Disney Resort Hotel Package. Inform the front desk when you check-in that you need to "add on a guest," then Number 3 just needs to purchase their own tickets and meals just for the days they are there. Make sure to let them know Number 3 will be there only part of the time. Number 3 should buy tickets now and be linked to your My Disney Experience account. Then they can get FastPass+ selections along with yours (for the days with you). Number 3 will be allowed the 60-day window that the rest of you get. If this works out best for you then you will need to modify your reservation to remove Number 3 making it a package for two. There may be fees associated with modifying.

To find out more about your Disney Resort hotel room options please contact the Disney Reservation Center at 407-934-7639 or the travel specialist who booked your Disney Resort Hotel Package.

Disney Dad Tip: Advance dining reservations are the best way to guarantee you will eat at the places you want. Disney opens reservations up 180 days in advance so start looking over your options now to make sure your Walt Disney World Resort vacation not only fills your heart but your belly.

Chelsea, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
