1st trip w DH in April for bdays for DD13 and DS6. Have res at WL but wondering if I should switch to CR because of park proximity. Can you walk to Epcot and HS from CR? How long is monorail ride from CR? Which building is best?

Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel!

Before making a switch from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary, decide on what is most important to your family: theme, transportation, pool amenities, etc.

It sounds like park proximity may be at the top of the list, and for that, the edge goes to the Contemporary....The monorail runs through it and can get you to the Magic Kingdom in about 15 minutes. To go to Epcot, you must switch trains at the Transportation and Ticketing Center, and it'll take a total of about 30 to 40 minutes. With that said, a boat serves Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom and takes about 30 minutes. However, my sons have always seen that as a ride in itself. A bus takes you directly to Epcot and will take about 35 minutes.

For theme, however, Wilderness Lodge gets the thumbs up. The rustic feel oozes coziness to me. For pool, I have to say Wilderness Lodge again with its rendition of geysers around the perimeter...

If you decide to switch to the Contemporary, the only advantage besides the monorail and a slightly larger room would be a Magic Kingdom view, and therefore, the main building would be your best choice.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
