Have you seen the
All-Star Music family suites? They are wonderful suites for families, but still within the value resort price. You'll have a bedroom/bathroom as well as a living room/bathroom, and kitchenette (fridge and microwave!). The furniture in the living room converts into sleepers, so each suite can accommodate up to 6 guests. You can also include a notation in your reservation about being close to the main building/bus stop to help out your son; while there isn't a guarantee with room requests, it is always worth a try.
Similar to the family suites at the All-Star Music, Disney is opening the
Art of Animation Resort in May 2012. The theming looks amazing with areas dedicated to
The Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo, and
The Little Mermaid. And the rooms, family suites!
Another option on a moderate budget are the
Cabins at Fort Wilderness. The cabins have a bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds. The living area has an additional pull-down bed. You will also have a fully-functional kitchen in case you'd like more options to meet your son's diet needs. The layout of this resort is quite large, but many guests rent golf carts to help get around the resort.
By the way, did you know you can have groceries delivered to your resort? We've used www.gardengrocer.com and always been happy with the results.
