Hi, I just tried to make a reservation for a character dining meal during the week we are visiting and I was told they are all booked. I know I am late making reservations, but I was wondering if you had any suggestions for other options?

    Stacy:

Thanks for coming to us at the Mom's Panel.

Now that most table service dining reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card, I have found that other guests are more conscientious about cancelling reservations should their plans change. Don't give up on booking your favorite character meal; keep checking Disney's online dining reservation system. When a dining reservation is released by one guest, it immediately goes online for booking by other guests.

Another angle is to pay particular attention to dining reservations when you are 45-days and 5-days out from your arrival date. These are windows in which guests who have booked a vacation package or room-only reservation must cancel to get refunds. I've also been successful 72 to 48 hours out from my desired date when the more-popular dinner shows must be cancelled or the guest pays the full cost of the reservation, not just the $10 per person booking fee.

If all else fails, consider dining establishments like Rain Forest Cafe, T-Rex, Biergarten and Teppan Edo which still provide an entertaining evening beyond just dinner fare.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
