Hi. I tried to get into the Plaza for dinner in Magic Kingdom (4.30 pm) and tried all of the first 2 weeks we are there in Dec. 2016. Could not get in. We always were able to eat here before. Is this possible?

    Hey, Richard!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so glad you asked this question because I've got some great advice for hard-to-get advance dining reservations. I am currently experiencing the same situation for early December with another restaurant. Here is my plan:

    1. Don't panic. You still have 6 months before your delicious dining experience at The Plaza Restaurant.
    2. Check availability weekly online through My Disney Experience or by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463).
    3. Stay flexible. Search for times 30-60 minutes beyond your desired time and show up early. If there is availability you will likely be seated early.
    4. About 6 weeks out from your desired dining time people will begin cancelling reservations. Most cancel between 8:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. This is prime time to pick up your desired reservation. Make sure to check daily.
    5. As a last resort, try to be taken as a walk-in. Cancellations happen at the last minute due to a variety of reasons and you'll be there to scoop up a table.

Disney Dad Tip: If you have a large party try searching for two tables to break up the group. For example, a party of 8 could be two tables of four. This may make it easier for you to get your dining time. You may always ask to be seated near each other and maybe they will even accommodate everyone at a single table.

I know you will have an unforgettable time.

Richard, enjoy making and eating many Magical Memories!
