Hi Samantha! Thanks for stopping by with this great question!
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is one of my favorite places to visit at Walt Disney World! It's packed with not only entertaining experiences but educational ones as well. Between all of the self-guided tours and exhibits sprinkled throughout the park, you can learn an incredible amount of information about the animals that reside there.
The
Tree of Life is such an iconic center point of Animal Kingdom. It breathes life into the park and creates a magnificent focal point. During certain times of the year, nighttime projections have been shown on this structure. These projections have been known as the Tree of Life Awakenings, which have come in different variations. Since these projections require it to be dark out, Disney has opted to only show them during times of the year when the sunset is earlier in the evening. Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park typically closes earlier than most parks, many times as early as 7 PM. With sunset happening well after 8 PM in the summer months, it's impossible to show the Tree of Life Awakenings during park hours.
It will certainly depend on when you plan to visit the Walt Disney World Resort! If you are visiting during times of the year when the sun sets earlier, such as parts of the fall and winter months, then there is a good chance that you may catch an iteration of these projections. Also, keep in mind that Disney has not announced if they plan to bring back these shows later this year. I suggest following along with the
Disney Parks Blog for any updates and announcements.
Samantha, I hope this information helps you plan for your upcoming stay!
See ya real soon!
