We are travelling to WDW in Aug 2009 for our very first visit for 1 week staying off site. We are a family of 5 with children 19, 18 & 12. None of us have ever experienced the magic of disney before! Can you please provide us with must-see & do

Hi Kim - you must be beyond excited!  I have limited space for my answer so I'll try to get you started.  If you have more specific questions, please let us know!

First, I noticed you mentioned you are staying off-site.  I'm a huge believer of staying on-site to get the most of Disney magic.  If you are planning your vacation for August 16th or later, Disney is offering a free dining promotion.  You may want to check it out to see if staying on site makes sense for you and your family.

Now on to the planning...if you haven't already, I would recommend ordering the free Disney vacation planning DVD.  Next, spend time researching the attractions on disneyworld.com.  Here, you'll be able to pinpoint what attractions your family would like best.

You'll also want to research the dining options.  Since this is your first time, I highly suggest enjoying at least one character meal...and Chef Mickey's would be a great choice to see the big cheese himself!  If your family enjoys dining with a lot of fun mixed in, you may also want to check out restaurants such as Whispering Canyon Cafe or Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

And, in my opinion, Disney isn't all about the parks.  You may also want to check out the recreation activities Disney offers.  Your children may be interested specifically in the Sea Raycers and the older two may find riding a Segway through Fort Wilderness or Epcot tons of fun.

Again, I hope this helps to get you started...please let us know if you have any specific questions.  Diane  :)
