We are travelling in Nov next year and my friend is a Type 1 Diabetic. Is there any information for the rides which have the most queueing outside in the heat and if possible is there any way we could register with the DAS for this condition.

Hi there, Maria - welcome back to planDisney!

It's great to see you back with another question as you plan for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort holiday next year, Maria!

I can definitely understand how it might be challenging for Guests with certain health conditions to spend too much time in the Florida sun. There isn't detailed information about queues provided by Walt Disney World Resort, but if there are any specific attractions you want to know about, we can definitely provide you with that information based on our own recent visits. Just stop by and drop us another question! That being said, most of the queues located outside are intentionally shaded, although not entirely, and sometimes shade isn't much help in the Florida heat.

Given that your friend may have difficulty utilizing the standard attraction queues, I suggest that you speak with a Cast Member at a Guest Relations location inside one of the four Theme Parks to discuss eligibility for the Disability Access Service (DAS). If eligible, your friend will be able to select return times for attractions throughout the day (one at a time) and will be able to spend time waiting in a location that is more comfortable for them, perhaps somewhere indoors. At the return time, you'll simply use the attractions Lightning Lane for a minimal wait. A DAS-registered Guest is also able to include up to five other Guests in each attraction return time selection.

If your friend happens to be located within the U.S., they may be able to pre-register for DAS using an online chat service. Currently, this option is only available for Guests within the U.S. - all other Guests can register in person at Guest Relations. Given that your trip is over a year away, that could change, so be sure to check back closer to your departure! Also, it's a great idea to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog to see what exciting events and offerings will be available during your holiday!

I hope this information helps you understand your options - please let us know if any additional questions pop up!
