We will be travelling next year as a party of 5adults and 1infant (15months at point of travel). All 5 adults will be on the disney dining plan, as such will we be classed as party of 6 each time at restaurant and such incur auto 18%gratuity or just 5?

    Hello Kerry-anne!

It is wonderful to hear you will be taking a Walt Disney World Resort holiday next year!  You must be looking so forward to your magical adventure.

Disney does customarily add 18% gratuity to parties of six or more dining together. During our visits, we have experienced it both ways and are sometimes charged the gratuity and sometimes not, when dining with our little ones.  In reaching out to several restaurant locations and to Guest Services, I was told the decision is made at the discretion of the restaurant, so you may not always have the same experience.  The great news is, we have always had our service expectations exceeded by our Disney waitstaff and therefor have always found the 18% gratuity completely deserving.  (In fact, we usually add more to it!)  Should you have any concerns simply reach out to the manager on duty during your reservation and they will be happy to help.

If there is anything else I can assist you with, please let me know!  Have a very magical vacation,
    Kerry-anne.

Hi-ya, Pals! I'm Lauren, a wife and mother of three who's enjoyed many special occasions at Walt Disney World Resort with my family and friends. From graduations to birthdays, and even our Fairy Tale Honeymoon we’ve loved celebrating at the most Magical Place on Earth. I now have pre-teens who check wait times in the My Disney Experience App just for fun, so I look for any excuse to return "home" often and would love to help you plan a little extra Pixie Dust for your next magical adventure.
