We are travelling Jan 2019 and staying on W Katella Ave near the Disneyland Dr intersection, is it possible to access downtown Disney from Disneyland Dr for people not staying at a Disney resort?

    Hello, Tony!

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your Disneyland Resort question. I’m glad to hear you’re making plans for a pixie-dusted visit to the Happiest Place on Earth next year!

Yes, you’ll absolutely be able to access the Downtown Disney District and theme parks via Disneyland Dr. from your hotel. Simply head west on Katella Ave. and then go north on Disneyland Dr. toward the Disneyland Resort Hotels. There will be a security checkpoint to enter the Downtown Disney District and theme park esplanade that is accessible to all visitors. You also have the option of using the resort entrance on Harbor Blvd. (marked by a large Disneyland Resort sign) and walking along the path beneath it that leads to the main entrances of the two theme parks, followed by the Downtown Disney District.

Your time spent at the security checkpoints can vary depending on the time of day and how busy the resort is, but the lines usually move fairly quickly. To expedite the screening process, be sure to open any bag compartments or zippers and remove the item’s straps from your body before reaching the front of the line.

I hope this helps, Tony. Please don’t hesitate to write back with more questions as you continue planning your vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
