we are travelling as a group of 6 and 1 of the members may have to leave a week early now. We were thinking of flying out another family member to join us for the last week - would it be possible for them to 'take the place' of the original person?

Hello Kelly and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, I have to say that it's always an added pleasure for me to assist a fellow Brit with their jolly holiday plans to visit Walt Disney World Resort.
I totally understand your great question as it would be an absolute shame for a whole week of Disney magic to go to waste now wouldn't it!
In theory I'm sure it's do-able to exchange Guests so to speak, but for some expert advice I recommend that you speak to a knowledgeable Cast Member by calling the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations freephone number contained in this Walt Disney World Resort Phone Directory.  Before you call, be sure to have close to hand all your Disney reservation/booking reference numbers and so on.
If I can help sprinkle any extra pixie dust onto your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort holiday plans please do pop back to ask me another question.
    Have a great Disney day.
