Travelling to Florida this Sept with 3 kids under 3. We are staying in a villa but want to stay at disney for a couple of nights to get benefit of the parks. can you suggest best hotel closest to magic kingdom & for character dining

Hello Angela and welcome to the Moms Panel!  I am so excited that you are able to visit the Walt Disney World Resort this September.  I would highly recommend Disney's Contemporary Resort.  The Contemporary Resort is within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom.  Even better, the Walt Disney World Monorail System runs through the resort and travels to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.  So, if you do not want to walk, let Disney do all the driving.
Another reason I love the Contemporary, is because you can dine with "Mickey and the Gang" at Chef Mickey's which is located on the fourth floor.  Mickey and friends will have you and your family joining in on some fun clapping and singing as your feast buffet style.  Have those cameras ready.  Mickey and friends will stop by your table, so smile big and have your autograph books ready to go.
If you should decide to stay at the Contemporary, you may want to ask for a room which faces Cinderella's Castle.  It is such a beautiful sight!  Have a magical day!
