We are travelling as a family of 4 (1st), my husband, 9yr daughter, 4yr old son and myself. We are staying at the SSR including DDP. What advice do you give to maximise the kids magical experience as well as making the most of the Character DDP and shows?

    Hello, Debbie!

We love Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and you cannot beat the value of the Disney Dining Plan.

Suggestions for some of the most popular Character Dining Experiences:
    • Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Epcot's Norway) for a Princess Breakfast (only 1 Table-Service credit, whereas Cinderella's Royal Table is 2)
    • Chef Mickey's (Disney's Contemporary Resort, just a quick monorail ride from Magic Kingdom Park) for buffet dinner with Chef Mickey and Friends
    • The Crystal Palace (MK) for a delicious, in-park buffet with Winnie the Pooh and friends
If your children have other character favorites, such as Lilo and Stitch or Alice, then check out this link to Walt Disney World's list of Character Dining experiences.

You're so close to Downtown Disney, so hop a resort bus (or walk, if your villa is located near the Congress Park area of SSR) for a great meal at T-Rex.  This dino-themed restaurant has a fantastic menu; the kids will love the meteor showers which "erupt" every twenty minutes or so. You'll also be near the world's largest Disney Store, The World of Disney, as well as a fantastic Lego Imagination Center.  Spend a few snack credits at Goofy's Candy Co., where, on our last visit, our kids were able to customize three of their own chocolate-covered pretzel logs...all for the price of one snack!

Keep an eye on the poolside activities offered at SSR, and consider spending a lazy night in the pool while watching a favorite Disney film from a comfy lounge chair while the kids swim off some extra energy.

This will truly be a wonderful first trip to Walt Disney World!  Please send me your dates and interests, and I'll try to help personalize your experience so that you do maximize the magic!  I'd love to help!
