We are travelling to Disneyworld in September 2022 and are starting to make plans for dining reservations. Do you have to be 21 years old to seat at the lounge at Space 220 or any restaurant lounge at Disney?

Welcome back to planDisney, Paul! We’re so glad you stopped by with another fabulous question!

I am so pleased to see you’re considering booking an Advanced Dining Reservation for Space 220 Lounge for your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World. I was lucky enough to visit the Centauri Space Station for a meal at Space 220 Restaurant earlier this year, and I must say that it has taken the top spot on my list of favorite restaurants! Not only is the food incredibly delicious, but the whole experience is out of this world...literally! After checking in with the hostess stand down on planet Earth, you'll get your boarding pass to hop on the space elevator and head up to your meal 220 miles above EPCOT. You’ll enjoy incredible views, unlike anything you’ve ever seen, as you dine among the stars. You might even spot an astronaut taking his dog out for an evening float through the cosmos! I highly recommend this incredible new restaurant for your upcoming vacation!

With that said, Paul, I am happy to share that Guests of all ages are welcome to enjoy Space 220 Lounge. The only exception is seating at the actual bar within the lounge, which is only for Guests age 21 and up. This policy is the same for most restaurant lounge areas, though there are a few exceptions that I’ve listed for you below.

    • Trader Sam's Grog Grotto - Guests of all ages are welcome up until 8 p.m. After 8 p.m., only Guests 21 or older are permitted.
    • Jellyrolls - This fabulous dueling pianos bar is only open to Guests aged 21 years or older.
    • Atlantic Dance Hall - Guests aged 21 years or older are welcome to cut a rug at this stylish nightclub located right on the Disney BoardWalk.

Now, Space 220 Lounge is one of the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World, so grabbing an Advanced Dining Reservation can be a little tricky. So, you’ll want to make sure you’re ready when reservations open up. You may want to set a calendar reminder to log into your My Disney Experience account at exactly 6 a.m. Mickey Standard Time (EST) 60 days before your check-in to secure your reservations. If you're staying at one of the many fabulous Disney Resort Collection hotels, you have the added benefit of being able to book Advanced Dining Reservations for the entire length of your stay (up to 10 days from your scheduled check-in), making it even easier to book a table at hot spots like Space 220 Lounge. How great is that?! In this case, if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, I recommend booking the most popular restaurants toward the end of your visit. This way, fewer people will have had the opportunity to book, giving you a better chance of snagging a table.

I can honestly say that I have never had a meal I didn't love at Walt Disney World, and I say that as one of the pickiest eaters on the planet (and outer space, for that matter!) So, wherever you end up dining during your vacation, I just know it will be incredible! We have many foodies here at planDisney, so feel free to stop in again with another question, and we would love to share some of our favorites!

    Until next time!
