Hi, Maryke! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel and asking your question!
It is so much fun when your child gets taller and they can start riding different types of attractions. I can clearly remember my daughter's first trip down Splash Mountain when she hit the 40" height mark. For safety reasons, all riders must meet the minimum height requirement to ride any attraction that has this restriction. So, if your child isn't yet 40" tall by the time of your visit to the Disneyland Resort, then he will need to stick to
attractions for which he
does meet the height requirement.
For a child that is 37" tall, there are LOTS of attractions available to him! Not only can he experience over 40 attractions that do not have any height requirement at all, but he can ride some of the bigger kid attractions with 32", 35", and 36" height requirements. He will love Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Autopia, Gadget's Go Coaster, and so many more.
If you'll be traveling with at least one other adult, you can take advantage of
Rider Switch if you want to ride the thrill attractions that your son isn't tall enough to ride yet. With Rider Switch, you and the other adult can take turns watching the child while the other rides an attraction. Once the first person is done riding, the second adult can ride the attraction with minimal wait.
I hope this helps clarify things for you. If you have any other questions, please stop by again!
