Hey, Wendy! Welcome to planDisney.
The wait is almost over! You'll soon be arriving at a whole new world. Mickey and Minnie can't wait to see you and give you a magical hug. There's so much to experience and enjoy at Walt Disney World Resort. From the newly opened
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana to classic attractions like
"it's a small world" and
Dumbo the Flying Elephant, your little Mouseketeer will have a "practically perfect" time in every way.
Wendy, you'll be pleased to know that Disney does a great job of caring for
Guests with disabilities. They have something called the Disability Access Service (DAS) which I think will be ideal for your son's needs. It is absolutely free for qualifying Guests and allows you to make attraction return time selections using the
My Disney Experience mobile app. This drastically reduces wait times in line and allows Guests to maximize the joy of their Walt Disney World trip. You can register your son for DAS once your family arrives at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you enter your first theme park, simply stop by Guest Relations with your son and you'll find a helpful Cast Member who'll be able to talk through your son's particular needs and, if appropriate, complete the registration process for you. You'll then have DAS for the next 60 days.
Using DAS is really easy too. Once you've qualified for the service, tap on the three horizontal lines at the bottom right of the app. You'll see the DAS feature magically displayed. Tap on this feature and you'll see a list of available attractions. If you tap on an attraction, you'll discover relevant information about that attraction, plus the next available DAS return time. If you tap that time, you'll then confirm the members of your party who will be joining your son for the attraction. Just note that you may only book one attraction at a time. You can have a maximum of 6 Guests (including your son) on each return time selection.
I hope that's helpful, Wendy! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney. Have a wonderful trip. See ya real soon.
Mike
