I am travelling to Disney World from March 13-21 and would like recommendations on what attractions are ones to not miss out on at Animal Kingdom. I am travelling with my son who is 5.

    Hi Pam:

I have two young boys who love Animal Kingdom. There are a whole host of activities and attractions my family enjoys at the park.

On every trip, my family heads over to the iconic Tree of Life carved with animal images in its trunk. The Tree of Life houses the 3-D movie, It's Tough to be a Bug! This movie can be an intense experience, so you may want to avoid the movie if you think it wouldn't suit your child. You will also want to get a close look at the park's animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari. If your son has some energy to burn off, head to The Boneyard, a dinosaur-themed playground in the Animal Kingdom. The Boneyard features a multi-level maze, climbing areas, tunnels, and a large shaded sandbox where kids can dig up “fossils.”

My boys are mesmerized by the shows at the Animal Kingdom, and if your son likes shows too, you'll want to check out the Festival of the Lion King. There is also a wonderful bird show called Flights of Wonder. Also be on the lookout for Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade, featuring Mickey and friends as well as music and festive performers.  Disney posts a calendar of such events on-line. To access the Animal Kingdom calendar, click here, and click on the desired day for details of that day's entertainment.

    Enjoy your vacation.
