We are travelling from Denver with one stopover, for 4 days in the Florida Keys, and 7 days in Disney. Our kids are 27 months old, and 11 months. What advice to you have for traveling with strollers and car seats and naps for the kids while traveling?

    Hi Guy,

Wow!  That sounds like a great trip you have planned.

The airlines have made it very easy to travel with strollers and car seats these days.  You can just roll your little ones right to the plane.  Remove your kids from the strollers right before you set foot on the plane and the airline personnel will check your strollers right before you board.  They'll be waiting for you immediately as you disembark the plane in Florida.  Be sure to have ID tags on them.

I suggest you use a backpack for your carry on.  That will free up your hands to carry your little ones and the car seats.  Double-check with your airline carrier for their policies, but it is my understanding that small children may sit in your lap or in a car seat (if a seat has been purchased for the toddler or infant).  If you don't plan to take your car seats onto the plane, ask at the check-in counter where your airline will check them for you.  Again, be sure to put ID tags or stickers on them.

Regarding naps, stay as close to your children's nap schedule as possible while vacationing.  If your kids nap well in their strollers, as did mine, you won't even need to leave the theme parks to give them a rest.  Just find a shady or air-conditioned place where your family can take a break while the kids sleep.  If they  need to head back to a more quiet place, go to your hotel mid-day for their naps.  You can return to the parks when everyone is well rested.  Trust me; Walt Disney World is a much more magical place when everyone has had their required sleep.

Wishing many magical memories for you and your family during your upcoming trip!
