I am travelling with children and on a very limited budget. I called disney and was told there are areas of the park that have no admission charges- such as dt disney- is this rightt? are there other areas we can go for little or no cost-keep costs low?

    Hi Lorrie,

There is so much at Walt Disney World to do when you are on a budget. One of my favorite things to do (whether you are on a budget or not) is to visit the other WDW Resorts.  Each one offers a different atmosphere, activities, etc...  For example if you would like to view the fireworks from Magic Kingdom without paying for park admission I would suggest to go to the Polynesian Resort or the Grand Floridian Resort (I am partial to the Polynesian Resort myself) and from the beach area you will have a very nice view of the fireworks (there is even piped in music to speakers located in several different areas).  You can also view the Electrical Water Pageant (a series of water floats with an entertaining light and music show) which sails by in the evenings as well.  You can visit Fort Wilderness Campground where you will be able to roast marshmallows, make hot dogs, sing by the campfire and watch a movie in the evenings. You will even be able to meet 2 of my favorite chipmunks there.....Chip and Dale!  There is also a petting zoo (pony rides and visits with some farm animals) and the main barn where you can see the horses they use on Main Street U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom and for Parades and special events at WDW.

Downtown Disney is a shopping district the cast member you spoke with told you about.  There is a lot of streetmosphere there with that added touch of Disney magic.  There are many shops, restaurants, a mini carousel and train ride (for a small fee), street shows, movie theater and so many fun things to experience that will be light on the budget.

Don't forget to play mini golf, there are two very special courses within Walt Disney World where the admission cost is very reasonable and it is quite easy to spend a fun, full Disney day on a limited budget.  When you arrive at WDW, I would ask a cast member for some tips on where else you can go on a budget but still experience that magical Disney atmosphere.

    Best wishes,
