Hi Robert,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question!
I’m happy to say that you can use any Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canada to pay for merchandise and, yes, even your meals at Walt Disney World Resort! They can be used anywhere that Disney Gift Cards issued in U.S. Dollars are accepted.
As a quick clarification, regardless of where they’re purchased, Disney Gift Cards can’t be “loaded” onto
MagicBands, as they can only be used to charges purchases back to your room if you’re staying in a
Walt Disney World Resort hotel. If that’s the case for you and your family, you can set a purchase spending limit on the MagicBands and then apply the funds on the gift cards to reduce your overall “guest folio” (i.e. resort charges) before you check out. Please ask the
Lobby Concierge at your Walt Disney World Resort hotel for more information.
Finally, for the exchange rate, the funds on them will get converted into USD based on the prevailing exchange rate on the first day that you use them. After that first use, the amount you have in USD is “locked in” so be sure to check the bottom of that first receipt to know how much you have left!
I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming Disney Parks vacation! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
