We are travelling from Australia with 2 children (6&9) to Disneyworld from 14th-23rd December. We are looking at staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness and wanted your advice? I realise that we will need to hire a cart but would love other suggestions

    Hi Belinda!

This is a great question.  I would definitely rent a golf cart as that will make getting around the large campground a lot easier (and a lot more fun).  My children, ages 13 and 8, absolutely loved going around on the golf cart.  I would also take advantage of some of the offerings at Fort Wilderness while you are there, including:
    • Breakfast and dinner at Trail's End, the best value in all of Walt Disney World in my opinion
    • The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
    • Chip and Dale Campfire Sing-Along
    • Taking a carriage or wagon ride throughout the campground
    • Renting a boat on Bay Lake
    • Renting a canoe on the canals in the campground
    • Horseback riding for the older child and a pony ride for the youngest
    • Cane pole fishing

If you just use your cabin as a place to sleep and not explore Fort Wilderness then I think you will miss out on some of the charm of staying there.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
