Hi Sara! Congratulations on your first solo trip with your son to Walt Disney World Resort...it's going to be magical.
There are a bazillion things to do at the happiest place on the planet - the sheer anticipation of fun times sends you in overdrive...but don't get overwhelmed. Our trips to Walt Disney World Resort with 4 children 10-8 and 4-year-old twins are magical because we maintain a relaxed pace. Trying to cram everything in a tight schedule equates to disaster - at least for us! Traveling with small children means frequent potty breaks, snacks on hand and NAP TIME for everyone.
Start your adventure at Magic Kingdom it's definitely going to be a favorite for your little guy. Begin your day with a solid breakfast and then enjoy a few hours hitting the must do
attractions. For lunch I'd do a
Quick-Service restaurant in Magic Kingdom park before heading back to your resort for some downtime. Perhaps a quick dip in the pool and then nap time.
If you plan on visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios, you're in for an extra special treat...from May 4 through June 14, 2015 enjoy
Jedi Mickey's STAR WARS Dine at Hollywood & Vine from 4:15pm - 8pm. I'm sure your son would love this experience so work on snagging an advanced dining reservation.
For your trip, be sure to pack good fitting comfy shoes, a hat, light jacket, sunscreen etc. Most important, stay hydrated! Pack juice boxes/pouches in your luggage and freeze them the night before so they'll be a perfect slushy while you're in the park.
Wishing you and your son a magical and memorable Disney vacation!
~Juliette
