Hello, Juanita!
I'm happy you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Disney FASTPASS,
Rider Switch,
Disney MaxPass, and taking
preschoolers to the Disneyland Resort. These are all topics right up our alley. In fact, my family was in just your situation not too long ago. We found Rider Switch to be a huge benefit to keep the whole family happy. The big kids got to ride all the big-kid attractions. And the preschooler didn't have her patience tested beyond her ability! Win-win!
Yes, you are free to use both FASTPASS and Rider Switch together on an attraction that offers both services. For a family of four with one riding child and one non-riding child, the three riders may obtain a FASTPASS for the attraction using the Disneyland app. At the time of the FASTPASS, have the entire family arrive at the FASTPASS return entrance. There, inform a Cast Member that you wish to use your FASTPASSES and also use Rider Switch. The adult staying with the non-rider will have their park ticket scanned to receive an entitlement to return again to the FASTPASS entrance during a designated time window. Rider Switch also allows that guest to have up to two others accompany them on the attraction. So that means that your 11-year-old may use a FASTPASS to ride once with one adult, and then use the Rider Switch entitlement to ride a second time with the other adult! How cool is that?! Just ask the Cast Member to scan the 11-year-old's ticket for Rider Switch as well. Note that there are also several
attractions that offer Rider Switch but that don't happen to have FASTPASS service.
Have a magical time, Juanita!
