Traveling with our 8, 5 and 1 year olds! Regarding riding7dwarfs mine train. 1 adult 1 kid with diff fp times? All get in line together & have one group wait with baby? Wondering how to make it work if our 8 year is nervous to ride alone. Thank you!!

    Hi, there!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Emily. We love when you stop by!

Your family sounds a lot like mine; my oldest kids are 8 and 6-years old, and my youngest just turned 1. We traveled to the Walt Disney World Resort this summer for the first time as a family of five, and there were some logistical things we had to work out now that my husband and I are outnumbered! Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is one of our absolute favorite attractions, but of course the baby is still far too little to enjoy it with us. To ride (and we rode a few times during our stay), we split up into pairs. The four of us who could ride all had a FastPass+ for the same hour-long window. One parent and one big kid would ride early in the window while the other two waited with the baby in a nearby shop. Then, we just made a quick switcheroo and the other parent and big kid would ride while the first two to ride waited with the baby. We had plenty of time within that FastPass+ window for the four of us to take turns racing through the diamond mine!

Are you familiar with Disney's Rider Switch? We took advantage of this service several times during our vacation, and it helped us save precious time in the theme parks while also making sure that we didn't have to miss out on some of our favorite thrill attractions just because we were traveling with a little one.

Emily, my oldest is sometimes nervous about attractions (especially those he hasn't tried yet) too. To best prepare him for a vacation, we preview attractions by watching videos online beforehand. He's better able to gauge his comfort level when he "sees" what the attractions will be like ahead of time!

I hope this was helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
