We are traveling with our 3 year old to WDW for the first time in April. Is the Magical Express from the airport fast usually? And do you happen to know how many stops it makes prior to the Polynesian? Our dilemma, Magical Express or Towncar rental?

In the past six months, I've experienced one efficient ride on Disney's Magical Express and another that was neither magical nor express.

In June, we took DME from the airport to our resort. Our timeline was as follows:
I wrote down our timeline, so let me share it with you.

    4:30 off plane
4:50 Magical Express desk (Disney's Welcome Center) after stopping at rest rooms
    5:00 Seated on bus
    5:10 Bus departed
5:13 Disney's Magical Express video began
    5:32 entered Walt Disney World
    5:35 Magic Kingdom toll booth
    5:41 Polynesian (arrive your resort!)
    5:43 depart Polynesian
    5:45 arrived Grand Floridian.
This was our stop but the bus was going on to the Wilderness Lodge and then the Contemporary Resort.

Once your bus (or car) is en route it takes 25 minutes (with no traffic delays) to reach WDW property.

On our last visit, we waited in line at the DME desk for 25 minutes. Then sat on the bus for 20 minutes before departing. I found this wait to be difficult and I didn't even have my son with me this time.

In January, we are renting a car. This will solves the airport and onsite transportation dilemmas. I find waiting for buses to be a waste of my valuable vacation time.

DME is free and works well if there is little wait.
