Welcome, Jose!
Thank you for bringing your important question to us at planDisney for your upcoming
Disney Cruise Line vacation! I’m so excited for you to make these special memories with your son. There’s just nothing like a relaxing getaway to beautiful destinations and enjoying
everything that the majestic ships have to offer!
I think you’ll be happy to hear that yes, there are excellent complimentary pool vests onboard every Disney Cruise Line ship. On my family’s cruise last month, there were many different sizes (indicated by color) of solid foam vest-style personal flotation devices. These are on display for complimentary use at both the onboard pools and available on Disney’s private island,
Disney Castaway Cay. They are sanitized in between each Guest’s use; you take a new one each time you are ready to swim and do not bring them back to your stateroom or take them off the ship in a port of call.
I feel confident that you will find the right vest for your son onboard, and please ask a Crew Member near the pool area if you need help. If you prefer to bring your own, Disney asks that any personal floatation devices brought onboard must be United States Coast Guard approved (indicated by a special label). Since you’re in Mexico, you’ll have to wait until you are physically in the United States to purchase this item. Please know this isn’t necessary given the great selection of pool vests onboard but it is an option if preferred.
It’s also important to know that only children who are toilet trained are allowed to enter the swimming pools, per the United States Public Health Service. If your son is not yet fully toilet trained, he is welcome to enjoy the kids’ wet play area and splash zones with a swim diaper. Swim diapers are not allowed in the pools.
You are going to have the BEST day at Disney’s Castaway Cay! This picturesque private island has beautiful sandy beaches, play areas for your son, and calm waters to explore together (with the provided vests on display for use). Don’t miss the delicious lunch buffet – my son and I like to take two chocolate chip cookies and make an ice cream sandwich using the soft serve machine located behind the beverage station after lunch!
Did you know that we also answer questions in Spanish? My multilingual pals would love to help you on our
planDisney Spanish site, if you prefer that another time.
I’m so glad you came by today with your great question, Jose! I hope you have the most magical time on your cruise next month. There's just nothing better than making those special memories as a family.
Wishing you blue skies and sunshine,
Amy
