We are Traveling with our 3 year old son abroad the 4 night Disney Dream (Bahamas). We have reservations to do the Atlantis full day but are also thinking of just staying on the boat. Any thoughts on heading to Atlantis full day or staying on the boat?

    Ahoy, Cara!

Thanks for cruising by the Moms Panel! I'm happy to help with your question.

My family has sailed on the four-night Disney Dream itinerary more often than any other sailing, so I'm familiar with your dilemma! On one of our first cruises, we decided to book a dolphin experience at Atlantis, followed by an afternoon at the water park. While it was TONS of fun, my youngest daughter was too little to be able to go on many of the water slides. Also, what we thought was a "lazy river" turned out to be more of a "raging rapids" water feature! My kids are teenagers now, and would LOVE that, but they didn't love it so much when they were little. The day we were in port, there were several other cruise ships with guests who'd booked a day at Atlantis, which led to a large crowd.

After our visit, I decided I would have enjoyed the experience more if my daughters had been a bit older. Since that cruise, more often than not, we've stayed on the ship to enjoy smaller crowds at the pool (my daughter could stay on the AquaDuck ALL DAY). We will probably give Atlantis another try now that my girls are older. They really like active Port Adventures - they had us ziplining and off-roading in a Jeep on our last cruise!

I hope this helps with your decision - I think you'll have an awesome time, no matter which you choose. I just wanted to share my experience to give you a "been-there, done-that" opinion! I hope you and your family have an awesome time on your Disney Cruise Line vacation.

    Have a magical day! - Diane W.
