Traveling with my 70 year old mother for 6 hours drive to arrive 9AM on December 19th. We will need a room for her to rest in while the rest of the family explores the parks. Is it possible to get early check in for one of our rooms?

Hey there, hi there, Tammy! You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with your question. I love being able to chat Disney with a fellow Louisianian!

Eeeek! Before you know it, you'll be arriving at The Most Magical Place on Earth, ready to begin your magical adventure during the most magical time of year. How exciting! As someone who drives from Louisiana to Walt Disney World Resort several times a year, I definitely understand the challenge of that drive and am more than happy to answer your question today.

Unfortunately, getting into your room at your Disney Resorts Collection Hotel early cannot be guaranteed. However, you can complete your Online Check-In early, and I definitely recommend doing so. You can even complete Online Check-In as early as ... now! Just log in to your account on your My Disney Experience website or app, start the process under your Plans, and be sure to enter Your Resort Arrival time. That way, if possible, your Resort will try to have your room ready as close to your arrival time as possible. Just keep in mind that there are no guarantees to have your room ready before check-in time.

If you complete Online Check-In, you will receive a text and/or email notification as soon as your room is ready and can head straight to your room. So, your mother will know exactly when she will be able to head to the room for some rest. While she waits, I recommend that she explores her new magical home away from home, taking breaks in the lobby, lounges or restaurants for some yummy snacks along the way. She can even participate in one (or three!) of the oh-so-fun Resort activities on the Activities board in or near the lobby. Exploring and relaxing at my Resort is one of my favorite things to do on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, so she will have just as much fun as the park-hoppers!

I hope this was helpful, Tammy, and I hope that you and your family have an unforgettable upcoming holiday vacation! Please feel free to stop by any time with any questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!

    Blue Skies and Sunshine,
