I will be traveling with a 2 1/2 year old who may need to return to the hotel for a nap. We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. How long does it take to get from Magic Kingdom back to the lodge and what is the best way of traveling there? Thanks!!

    Hi Shavon:

I love the Animal Kingdom Lodge. So much so, that my family chose it to be our "home" resort when we joined the Disney Vacation Club. While I'm partial to the benefits and amenities of Animal Kingdom Lodge, such as the savanna views, the fine dining, and the unique kid and family activities, the resort is sliiiightly further away from three of the parks than many other Disney properties. That being said, for me, the benefits of the Animal Kingdom Lodge outweigh the extra minutes we may spend on the bus.

Disney's complementary busses will be your best method of transportation from Magic Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney buses are scheduled to run on average every 20 minutes, and with a few exceptions, we generally find that busses from the parks to the Animal Kingdom Lodge run even more frequently. We have rarely had to wait a full 20 minutes for the bus, but it has happened. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is situated further away from the Magic Kingdom than many other Disney resorts. Not counting the walk from the parks to the bus station, I budget 45 minutes, including waiting time and travel time, to get from Magic Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I usually arrive ahead of schedule. Taxis are also available, but will cost you money to use.

    Enjoy your vacation.
