We are traveling with my 2 year old late march and will be using the Disney magical express and bus system to travel throughout the parks. I am concerned about safety of traveling without car seat. Can you tell me if the buses have special bus lanes, etc

    Hi Amanda,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question!

We travelled to Walt Disney World Resort several times with our son when he was a little guy and I can tell you that I’ve never felt anything but 100% safe when using Disney Transportation, including the bus system. First, while there are no special “bus lanes” throughout Walt Disney World Resort, the buses do have separate loading and unloading areas and the speed limits in and around the Resort aren’t as fast as they can be on other highways outside.

Second, the buses that they use are more like “city” buses, so car seats can’t be installed on them at all. The biggest challenge I’ve ever faced is having to wait in longer lines than I’d like before getting onboard and then finding a seat, though people usually let little ones have a place to sit before getting underway.

If you’re truly concerned about ensuring that your child rides in a car seat during your travels throughout Walt Disney World Resort, an option would be to use the Minnie Van Service. Although it’s not complimentary, all Minnie Vans come equipped with car seats.

I hope my answer helps you plan a happy and safe vacation for your entire family.

    Have a Magical Day,
