Traveling w/our daughter, age 4. Thinking of staying at Swan/Dolphin (using teacher discount), but don't know much about the hotel. Looked at website; would prefer advice from a Mom who has stayed here. Would it be better to stay at actual Disney resort?

    Carmen:

Thanks for coming to the Mom's panel!  I feel so honored that you've asked our opinion!

I've stayed at the Dolphin twice--and loved it!  You get all of the amenities of staying at a Deluxe Disney property (wonderfully-themed pool, proximity to Epcot AND Disney Studios along with boat service, a Character Dining restaurant, and the boardwalk) without the price tag!  The rooms are comfortable with "heavenly" beds, and I personally love the shampoo!  The fountain in the Dolphin lobby along with its chandeliers give you the feeling you are in one of Disney's nicest hotels.

The only downside is that  you can't purchase the dining plan or have package delivery.  But the discount you receive as a teacher will more than make up for any savings you'd get from the dining plan, in my opinion.  Some may think the two hotels are a bit large (they do a good bit of convention business), but I'd rather walk inside in the air conditioning than around a large campus of buildings like those found at the Moderate resorts...For the price, I'd heartily recommend them!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
