Hello, I am traveling with my wife and 1 year old to disneyland on 5/1, and want to know what are the best tips of enjoying this trip. As of now, I am curious about the difference between the photopass and the photopass+.

Hi there, Joe! Welcome to planDisney. There is nothing more magical than bringing little ones on a visit to The Happiest Place on Earth. I remember my son’s first visit a little after he turned 1, and it was so sweet experiencing so many “firsts” with him. I’d love to walk you through my best tips on how to enjoy this trip!

With a 1-year-old, don’t skip out on the Baby Care Centers. These are still our go-to now with potty training in full swing. When our son was in diapers, we loved the cushioned changing pads and the ceiling fan for comfortable and easy changes. We were introducing solids into his diet, so having a microwave handy to heat up baby food and a quiet place to feed him was a bonus!

Being able to go with the flow is key with a 1-year-old. With that in mind, we kept an eye on baby-friendly attractions (ones without any height restrictions) and brought along noise-cancellation headphones just in case the audio became too much. If lines were longer than expected, we made sure to bring our baby carrier so my husband or I could strap him onto our chest and hang out without tiring our arms.

Take advantage of Rider Switch! With Rider Switch, you can wait with your 1-year-old while your wife rides an attraction that your little one cannot. Once she returns, you can ride the attraction without having to wait in the regular line again!

If you intend to do character meet-and-greets but find the lines in the park overwhelming, consider reserving a table for character dining. My son got to interact with so many characters on his first visit by dining at Plaza Inn this way, and it’s something we still love to do.

PhotoPass is the overall name of the service that the parks use to capture guests’ photos by PhotoPass photographers. PhotoPass+ One Day is a way to receive all your available Disney PhotoPass photos from the day, plus select attraction and dining photos, as digital downloads. This is a great way to capture all the memories from your trip and save them for years to come!

Joe, thank you so much for visiting planDisney! I hope these tips serve you as well as they do for my family, visit after visit. If you have any more questions or need further planning tips, planDisney is here for you!
