Traveling to WDW in Oct. with my grandkids (1&3). Not going to the parks but would like to visit resorts. Their parents are concerned about traveling on the buses. Can we drive to the resorts and park there for a couple hours?

    Hi Renee,

    Welcome to planDisney!

Although I cannot guarantee that you would be able to park at Disney Resorts Collection hotels without a resort reservation, I can suggest making advanced dining reservations if you want to park and visit resort hotels. We've had no trouble visiting other resort hotels when we have dining reservations at those locations. Just remember to review the operational updates and resort hotel updates prior to your visit.

My family just took a trip in July and we used Walt Disney World® Bus Service. Although the busses were fairly crowded, they were certainly not packed like we have seen them on prior trips. Having said that I understand the health and safety concerns with young children at this time. If you do ride Walt Disney World® Resort Monorail Transportation, know that you could take the monorail to the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) and then walk to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. From Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, you can also walk to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. So if you did exit the monorail at the TTC, you could also walk to a dining reservation at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. My girls and I just did this walk on our most recent trip a few weeks ago. I would estimate it to be about a 20-minute walk, with a stroller it might take a little longer!

I would also suggest visiting Disney Springs. The shopping and dining options here are fantastic, so you could spend a day. When we make plans at Disney Springs, we usually dine at The Edison or Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'. So, take some time and review your dining choices prior to your trip, check your advanced dining reservation window, and then explore!

Renee, keep planning! I am sure you will find a few options for your family and then we can welcome you to your next Incredible Disney Day!

    Magic and memories,
