Traveling to WDW on 12/25-1/1 w/ my mom, DS8, DD9 for 1st visit. Have ADR every night, but wasn't able to get them in same park we will be in. How much time to travel on bus/monorail from parks to resorts, resort to resort. Trying to manage time. Thanks!

    Hi Sarah,

The first trip to Walt Disney World is especially exciting, and the holidays are especially beautiful!

There is a fun website I like to use when estimating travel time called www.ourlaughingplace.com.  When you go to the site, click on Planning Tools, then select OLP WDW Transportation Wiz.  You'll be able to enter your starting point and destination to get an estimated travel time as well as suggestions for modes of travel (bus, monorail, walking, etc.).  Remember, this isn't an official site, and the times aren't guaranteed, but it will help you in planning.

Also, although the holidays are a really fun time to be at Walt Disney World, they're also REALLY crowded!  I just want you to be prepared ahead of time.  The week between Christmas and New Year's is one of the most popular times for guests to visit Disney.  Sometimes the parks can reach capacity early in the day, and they can't let guests in.  So, if you have a dinner reservation at a park that's different from where you are spending your day, you may want to rethink that option and try to get a reservation in the park where you'll be spending most of your time.

I hope I'm not scaring you.  On the contrary, I just want you to go knowing that you won't get to see EVERYTHING.  Just soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the attractions you do get to experience.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
