Am traveling to WDW on March 4, 2011 with husband and three children. Will be 20 weeks pregnant as well. Wondering if pregnancy restrictions are recommendations or strict rules. Thanks so much!

    Hi there Amy!

You bring up a good point about restrictions. I think the best thing you can do is check with your physician before you head down to Walt Disney World. Be sure to ask about any specific ride movements that could compromise your pregnancy. Your physician will be able to give you the best advice. Disney will typically leave riding the rides to your own decision but there are signs in front of the ride which state; "expectant mothers should not ride". I would think that if a woman were in the last part of her second or in her third trimester they would make sure to "emphasize" the ride restrictions.

I myself would avoid the coasters just to make sure to keep the baby safe. I have to say though, that my wife did ride Big Thunder Mountain when she was pregnant and the kids have turned out fine... Well, at times I wonder! HA HA! Just use caution and wise judgment and you should be fine.  Congrats with the new addition and take care! I hope this helps with your planning. Thanks so much for asking the Moms Panel. Have a great time at the Walt Disney World Resort!!
