We are traveling to WDW July 2 to July 7, 2011 with our 4 year old and 9 year old. It will also be my 31st birthday while we are at the park. Do you have any suggestions on which park to go to for the 4th of July and which park to go to on my birthday.

    Hi Terri!

The Magic Kingdom will be packed on the 4th of July and may actually close due to capacity; in other words, the Magic Kingdom may become so crowded that Disney will not allow any more people to enter that park.  Thus I recommend skipping the Magic Kingdom, even though the 4th of July fireworks there will be spectacular.  Historically speaking, Epcot will be the next most crowded followed by Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Epcot is a large park and able to absorb the crowds pretty well; you can feel packed in the Studios on the 4th!

My recommendation, and something my family recently did, is to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom on the 4th of July.  Because it doesn't offer fireworks, and guests will be concerned about being closed out of one of the other parks due to capacity, Animal Kingdom will be relatively empty.  You can spend a great day in that park and then head over to the Polynesian or Grand Floridian hotels to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks later that night.  We went to the Polynesian and went out to the beach; it was perfect.

For your birthday, I recommend visiting the Magic Kingdom.  It's my favorite park and where I would want to spend my birthday.  Be sure to pick up a birthday button in Guest Services!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
