Hi Dana,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question! We visited the Walt Disney World Resort with our little guy for the first time when he was almost 6 months old, and we've visited twice with our little guy when he was 2 1/2 years old. During these visits, we learned some pretty essential tips and tricks about travelling with little ones!
First, I would really recommend
renting a double stroller from a Disney Featured Provider, rather than using the Stroller Rental service in the Theme Parks. I don't find that the hard plastic strollers that they have for rent at the Theme Parks aren't great for babies or smaller toddlers. It also might be cheaper for you, depending on the length of your visit. You can get a list of the Disney Featured Providers in the link I provided above - we've had great service from Kingdom Strollers. If you're used to using a baby carrier, I would also recommend bringing it with you, as I found it more convenient than a stroller, especially for certain attractions.
Second, I cannot emphasize the importance of heading back to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room for a nap in the middle of the day. If you're staying off-property, make sure that your hotel is close enough to allow you to return for a nap. What works for us: we shift our little guy's nap schedule over by an hour or two (nap at 2:30 rather than 12:30ish, for example) so that he can stay up to watch the fireworks and other nighttime entertainment... his favourite part of any Disney Day!
Finally, don't forget to check out the
Baby Care Centers during your visit and the
Planning for Pre-School Kids and Little Ones Guide for more planning tips!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
