We will be traveling to WDW in December 2010. What is the weather like this time of year? What type of attire should we wear while at the park. And most importantly, what are the BEST recommended shoes to wear?! :-)

    Hi Katessha,

Thanks for writing.  The holidays are an extra magical time to visit Walt Disney World.  The parks and resorts are decorated in a sea of fantasy that would bring a smile to Ebenezer Scrooge himself!  Average highs in December tend to be in the low 70s, and lows are in the 50s.  In general, there is very little rain.  However, these are averages, and temperatures can vary, so be sure to check a long-range forecast before your trip.  I would absolutely recommend bringing along a jacket or sweater, as mornings and evenings can get cold.  I would also ensure that you have short-sleeved shirts, because the sun heats up the parks in the afternoon, and it's usually quite warm.  If you like to swim, I'd stash a bathing suit in your luggage as well.  The resort pools and water parks are all heated!

As for shoes, I would stick with whatever you are most comfortable wearing for long periods of time.  For many guests, this means sneakers.  I'm a flip-flop girl myself, and even when it's chilly, prefer to traverse the parks in them.  You'll see a variety of shoe styles on your trip.  I'm amazed at the women who manage to travel through Fantasyland in heels, but hey, whatever works!  Whatever you opt for, be sure to test them out before you go.  I don't recommend breaking in a new pair of any shoes at Disney! (Oh, I'd also bring along a few bandaids in case you get any blisters.)

    Have a fabulous holiday trip!
