We will be traveling to WDW from Dec 18-22. What are the crowds like during that time? I have heard its really busy the week of Christmas through New Years. Since we are traveling before that will we miss the extremely heavy crowds?

    Hi Lindsey,

Without a doubt, you are spot on that the week between Christmas and New Year's is incredibly crowded, so much that the parks sometime reach capacity.  Visiting prior to this date is a good idea as you should be able to enjoy lighter crowds, but I think you'll find that the parks may get more crowded as you get toward the 22nd since some schools are beginning their winter breaks around then. But overall, I think you will being missing the heavy crowds.

If you are still concerned about crowds, www.touringplans.com is a website that offers predictions about crowds as well as what parks to visit and what parks to avoid on specific dates.  It also has over 100 touring plans to help you make the most of your days.  While it does have a small fee, I have found it worthwhile.

Enjoy your holiday trip to WDW; it is truly magical during that time of year. Please let us know if we can help again.
