We are traveling to WDW in August. My husband would like to visit ESPN wide world of sports to look around and purchase some merchandise. Does he need to pay for admission to do this? Or can he simply visit the gift shop to buy something?

    Hi Amanda,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question.

Although I’ve only ever been there in order to pick up my racing bib as part of a runDisney event, I’ve always been impressed with the services and offerings at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex. From what I understand, you can definitely go there and walk around to check out the shopping and dining options that are available there. That being said, operating hours may vary if there is no event taking place in the complex and, if there is one, then you may need to purchase a ticket in order to get admission.

Here’s what I would recommend: ask your Lobby Concierge whether they have a schedule of events and opening hours for the day of your visit. They’ll be able to provide you with your options, as well as discuss how you’ll be able to get transportation to and from the Complex (it’s not always easy to get there). You can also check the website I've linked to above to get an idea of what your options are, before your arrival.

I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming visit. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions about your upcoming Disney Parks vacation.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
