I am going to be traveling to WDW in August with my DH and 3 DS ages 8, 4 and 2 at time of travel. Can you telll me about what Disney means by "young children"? Does this mean my 2 year old can't ride the rides? He loves rides and anything hi

I know it can be difficult to find rides and attractions that all can enjoy together when you have three children.  My own two children were very different in what they liked and the younger one was the dare devil and wanted to do it all. Disney does have restrictions on some of the rides and attractions and it is done by height for safety reasons.  There is no exception and children are measured before being allowed to enter. To prevent your 2 year old from being disappointed and turned away please check the height restrictions for all the attractions. This list can be found at allears.net and type in ride restrictions.  Knowing what he/she can or can not do before going will prevent tears once you are there. Other attractions will post warnings that rides might be intense for young children.  Obviously you will know your child best and can use your judgement on these attractions.  For instance Its A Bugs Life in Animal KIngdom has a very large bug come out on the far right side. My 2 year old grandson is not fond of it but I have learned to sit in the back and on the left side and he loves that attraction now.  Ask any cast member if you are not sure and they can give you information that might help you make a decision.
Don't forget you can also use the "rider switch" option for rides. You take turn staying with children who can't ride while only waiting in line once.  Ask the cast members at the attractions and they will guide you through the procedure.  Have fun!
