I will be traveling to Walt Disney World Orlando for the very first time with my husband and 7 yr old son. What to expect when go to the park? I know this will be Spring Break Week. Will it take a day to visit each park? Where is the best affordable stay?

Hi Laketric! How exciting for the three of you to be planning a great Disney vacation soon. Spring break is a busy time but just make sure you plan ahead and have dining reservations in place before you go.

I would certainly plan at least one day for each park. You might want to plan for two days in the Magic Kingdom as that is the core of all Disney and the park many families want to visit over and over again. You can never get enough of seeing the castle in day and night!

Once you have decided which parks to visit on specific days you can determine where you might want to dine and get those reservations made. YOu can do this on line or by calling the dining number at 407-939-3463. Head to the parks early and look over the Times Guides to see the times for the parades and character meet and greets. Be aware of what attractions use the Fast Pass system and definitely try to obtain some for your day. This will alleviate the long lines for those attractions at least.

The most affordable resorts will be the Value Resorts at Disney. Try the Pop Century or the All STar resorts as they have nice accommodations and clever theming. The newest Value is Art of Animation but that resort will be slightly higher then the others as most of the rooms are the family suites. You can check out all of them at
