Hello! We are traveling to Walt Disney for Christmas and are debating on whether to buy tickets to mickeys very merry Christmas party. Our son will be 15 months old when we go and he’s in bed around 7 pm every night. Help! We want to see it all!

    Hi Danielle!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a fun holiday celebration in Magic Kingdom where you can enjoy exclusive holiday entertainment, Character Experiences and tasty treats. Unfortunately, since the party is from 7:00 p.m. until midnight, it is tough for little Mouseketeers who are used to earlier bedtimes.

I have done evening parties with my little boys twice, once when my youngest was almost 2 years old and once when he was 3 years old. I have found that in order to have an enjoyable evening with them at the late evening party, I have to plan the rest of the day and the day after completely around the party's schedule. This means that we sleep in as late as possible on the day of the party, enjoy recreational activities at our Disney Resort hotel, have a relaxing lunch and a long afternoon nap before entering Magic Kingdom in time for the party. We also enjoy the party recognizing that we might not make it the whole night. It's ideal if our little ones fall asleep in their stroller, but they just might not make it and need to head back to their hotel. The following day, I don't plan any activities until after lunch to give everyone plenty of time to sleep in.

When we travel to Walt Disney World Resort, we have the luxury of our normal timezone being 2 hours behind Eastern time. So my little one's normal 8:00 p.m. bedtime is actually 10 p.m. Mickey time and even for them the party is tough. So if your little one has never experienced late nights and is used to a 7:00 p.m. Mickey time bedtime, you may want to consider enjoying other holiday events at Walt Disney World Resort and enjoy Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party when your little one is a bit older.

    T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
